Building Envelope Design Competition logo

Project Summary

The first-place submission stood out for its highly integrated approach, combining strong architectural intent with high performance and constructability.

The design is grounded in its local context, using materials like Tyndall stone and cedar to create a building that fits naturally within an established Winnipeg neighbourhood, while still delivering a contemporary and high-performance solution.

The team developed an envelope with continuous insulation and careful detailing, supported by strong modelling and high-performance glazing. Overall, this is a comprehensive, well-executed, and highly buildable solution, making it a very deserving first-place winner.
